THE IN-DEPTH GUIDE

Planning Kilimanjaro in detail.

Compare the whole route

Eastara’s published collection includes Machame, Lemosho and Marangu programmes. Compare the number of mountain days and each day’s progression, rather than choosing by route name alone.

Machame and Lemosho involve camping-style arrangements in the published route descriptions; Marangu is known for hut accommodation. Confirm the exact sleeping arrangements, equipment and services in your individual proposal.

Preparation deserves time

Think about your walking experience, training, equipment and familiarity with multi-day travel outdoors. Discuss the intended acclimatisation schedule and how the route allows time for the altitude transition. A summit result cannot be guaranteed.

Personal suitability and health questions should be discussed with a qualified clinician. Confirm appropriate activity and altitude cover directly with your insurer. The website’s destination information does not replace those individual assessments.

Getting the holiday sequence right

Build the climb around realistic arrival and preparation time. Clarify the meeting point, transfers, mountain schedule and the arrangements after descent before confirming onward travel.

A safari or Zanzibar stay can be discussed as a separate part of the same journey. Leave a practical margin for recovery and travel connections instead of arranging an intensive programme immediately after a demanding climb.

What your proposal should explain

Ask for the daily route, nights on the mountain, accommodation format, equipment scope and the services included. The published programme is a starting point for that detailed conversation.

Seasonal guidance helps you choose a travel window, but mountain conditions change with altitude and time of day. The weather panel on this page describes the Moshi foothills, not the summit. Follow the operating team’s current mountain advice.
