Start with location

A place to stay is part of the route. Before comparing rooms, look at where the property sits in relation to the areas you want to explore. Ask what arrival and departure days involve and how often you will move between bases.

Two properties described in similar language can produce quite different journeys. One may suit travellers who want to spend most of the day exploring; another may invite more time enjoying the setting.

Lodges and tented camps

A safari lodge usually has permanent buildings and a different feel from a tented camp. A tented stay can range from simple accommodation to a highly furnished room under canvas. The word “tent” alone says little about the facilities.

Ask for details that matter to you: bathroom arrangements, sleeping configuration, power, access, meals and how the property works after dark. These should be clarified for the individual property in your proposal.

Define comfort in your own terms

For one traveller, comfort means quiet surroundings and an unhurried schedule. For another, it means a particular room arrangement or additional facilities. Describe what you need rather than relying only on a broad label such as luxury.

If you have accessibility requirements, dietary needs or a preference for fewer steps and shorter walks, raise them before a property is selected. Individual suitability must be discussed and confirmed.

Think about the full stay

A single night can introduce a place, while more time lets you settle into its rhythm. When you change accommodation frequently, packing and transfers become part of each day. Decide how much variety you want against how much time you want to remain in one setting.

For safari and beach journeys, you may prefer different accommodation styles in each part of the trip. There is no need for every stay to feel the same.

What Eastara needs to know

Send your preferred room arrangements, the ages of any children, what you enjoyed on previous holidays and what you would like to avoid. Include a budget range if you have one, with the currency and whether it covers the whole trip or accommodation only.

Property names, availability, inclusions and conditions are agreed through a tailored proposal. The photographs on this site are illustrative destination images, not a catalogue of Eastara-owned accommodation.
